Description: General Note: Part of the CWA Pioneer Interviews Collection. Consists of an interview of Harry Cook, an early day resident of Delta County, Colorado. Born in Ontario in 1864, Cook came to southeastern Kansas with his family in 1867. In the late 1880s he moved to the Black Hills region where he prospected and worked as a miner. In 1892 he moved to Creede, Colorado where he operated a boarding house. In 1894 he moved to Telluride. Shortly after he was contracted by Thomas Walsh to help operate the Camp Bird Mine near Ouray. Most of this document consists of his recollections of working for Walsh in Ouray, Telluride, and Silverton.
